| Born in 1978 in the Bahamas,
Willicey Tynes has for the past 10 years been bringing the beauty
of the Bahamas to his canvas. Many artists paint for themselves,
some for others. Willicey paints because there is hardly anything
in his life that he wants to do that is better. His motivation is
fueled by life itself. To awake and smell the freshness of the air
each morning and see the sun rise to another glorious day, yet he
is always looking for sound advice as to how he can grow to be
more refined.
His choice of medium is oil on
canvas, but also has used and achieved great results with
acrylics, oil pastels, and pencil. With his accomplished technique
he favors painting faces, flowers, and sunsets on the big blue
ocean. However, if he cannot at times experiment, then he
personally feels that, as an artist, his creativity will fade.
A professional artist since
1994, Tynes's unique style has attracted clients from as far away
as Switzerland! Using nature as his inspiration, Willicey enjoys
painting outdoors and has stopped visitors in their tracks
streetside with his compelling and unique images.
Willicey's desire to challenge
himself in his painting has led him to move beyond realism into
some abstract and even surrealistic compositions.
Willicey's fascination with
his homeland's natural surroundings emerged at an early stage in
his career. And this theme is prevalent throughout his works,
whether executed in acrylics, pastels, mixed media, or his
favourite, oil paints.
Seeing his first exhibit as a
chance to "give back to all those who have supported
him", Willicey also hopes to gain a stronger presence in the
increasingly competitive artistic world.
