Willicey Tynes Bahamian Art

Born in the Bahamas in 1978 Willicey Tynes has been bringing the beauty of the Caribbean to his canvas. Willicey enjoys painting for himself and his motivation is fueled by life. Willicey's fascination with his natural surroundings emerged early in his career and this theme is prevalent throughout his works. His choice of medium is oil on canvas, but he has also achieved great results with acrylics, oil pastels and charcoal. With his style of painting he favors florals, seascapes and portraits as his subject matter. Willicey has been winning awards for his masterpieces very early in his career; at the age of 17 he won 1st place in a National Stamp Competition and 1st place in The Bahamas Seafood Art competition in the high school category.

Willicey loves to push the limit and challenge himself and this has led him to sculpting in various mediums such as clay and bronze. Two of his bronze pieces have won him recognition. The bronze sculpture entitled "Yara" was accepted as part of the National Art Gallery of the Bahamas. The bronze piece entitled "Conjured Beauty" received honorable mention at a local juried show in Minnesota.

His accomplished technique has attracted clients from around the world such as Switzerland, Canada and the US. Willicey always seeks to gain a stronger presence in the increasingly competitive art world, and is involved in many exhibitions around the world. He also works with non-profit art organizations by teaching and through mentoring. At the end of the day Willicey gives his credit to the spiritual routine that has great precedence in his life.
